Automated complement fixation test for the detection of anti-trypanosoma cruzi antibodies.

چکیده
An automated method to detect TrypanosomÐ crozi antibodies is described, using complement fixation with an adequate automated equipment. Fifty five serum samples from patients lvhere Trypanosoma cruzi antiþodies were detected by Almeida's technique for complement fixation and by fndirect Immunofluorescence test, were studied by this method. The conclusion is that this automated üechnique can be perfectly adapted to serology services in blood banks that aim to eliminate eventual diseases transmitted by blood donors.

The utility of anti-trypomastigote lytic antibodies for determining cure of Trypanosoma cruzi infections in treated patients: an overview and perspectives.
In previous work, we proposed alternative protocols for following patients with treated Chagas disease and these are reviewed herein. Evidence was provided to support the following: (i) functional anti-trypomastigote antibodies are indicative of ongoing chronic Trypanosoma cruzi infections; (ii) specific antibodies detected by conventional serology (CS) with epimastigote extracts, fixed trypoma...

The unlabelled antibody peroxidase-antiperoxidase method was used to study the immunocytochemicalproperties o/Leishmania and Trypanosoma cruzi amastigotes in situ after tissues had been submitted to different fixation procedures. Antisera were obtained from rabbits chronically infected with different strains o f T. cruzi or immunized with L. mexicana amazonensis and L. braziliensis guyanensis, ...
متن کاملComparison of the complement fixation test and counterelectrophoresis test for the detection of antibodies in Chagas disease.
Sera from 452 patients and blood donors were tested for antibodies to Tryp-anosoma cruzi. The complement fixation test and a counterelectrophoresis test were used. The results showed that both tests agreed in 92% of the sera. However, the counterelectrophoresis test was not as sensitive as the complement fixation test.

Trypanosoma cruzi, a hemoflagellate protozoan (family Trypanosomatidae), is the ethiological agent of Chagas disease, which is affecting 16-18 million people, with more than 100 million exposed to the risk of infection. Higher plants are a potential source of new drugs to improve the treatment of Chagase disease. Until recently, Rutacea, Meliaceae, Simaroubaceae and Burceraceae families have be...
